Artist talk by Tiriki Onus
Join Yorta Yorta and Dja Dja Wurrung artist Tiriki Onus as he discusses Thrivance: Then, Now, Next, an artwork in Sherbrooke Forest that weaves together four generations of Onus family history, activism and creative expression in the Dandenong Ranges.
This is a unique opportunity to hear the powerful stories embedded in this installation of sculptural signposts and learn about their significance as both a tribute to past activism and a statement of ongoing cultural resilience.

Guided bushwalk, Sherbrooke Forest
Join us for an informative guided tour that explores part of the Country-themed trails in Sherbrooke Forest. Approx. 45-60 min.
This tour will highlight many elements of ngurrak barring, including audio recordings, rich storytelling, a sculpture commission by Anton McMurray, and one of five Architectural Nodes crafted by First Peoples design studios Djinjama and COLA Studio.

An overview of the creative and cultural history of the Dandenong Ranges by Dr Bronwyn Hanna
Join historian and heritage professional Dr Bronwyn Hanna as she presents an overview of the creative and cultural history of the Dandenong Ranges.
Drawing on her extensive study “RidgeWalk”: A History of Culture, Artists and Creativity in the Dandenong Ranges (2017) which informed the interpretive framework for ngurrak barring, Bronwyn will share insights into the ways in which individuals and communities have culturally and creatively engaged with and responded to this unique place.

Design talk by Djinjama and COLA Studio
Join Dr. Danièle Hromek (Djinjama) and Kaylie Salvatori (COLA Studio) as they discuss the design of the ngurrak barring Architectural Nodes, collaborative explorations of the themes of the project through an Indigenous lens.
This is an exciting opportunity to learn about the innovative and considered approaches and concepts embedded in their contemporary expressions of Aboriginal architecture, as they relate to the Country-themed Node.
